BUNAC secures investment from youth travel specialist

Oct 9, 2020

BUNAC Travel Services, a global work and travel company, announces it has been acquired by David Andrews, Lioncourt Investments, who has invested new capital to support BUNAC’s growth ambitions.

BUNAC, originally founded in 1962 by University students in the UK, has expanded into a global work and travel business with especially strong heritage in the UK, US, Australia and NZ. Over the last 58 years BUNAC has helped over half a million young people travel all over the world on a working holiday, internship or summer camp programme.

BUNAC had enjoyed sustainable growth and profitability prior to the COVID19 pandemic and this new investment has strengthened BUNAC’s position as a global work and travel leader.

David Andrews commented “BUNAC Travel Services shares my passion to develop and grow work and travel opportunities for young people. BUNAC will complement our recent acquisition of the USIT Brand in Ireland. We continue to look for further investment opportunities in the cultural exchange / work and travel space internationally.”

Director of BUNAC and WYSE Member at Large Vicki Cunningham, said, “I look forward to growing our business with David and the team and continuing our mission of helping young people globally have life-changing work abroad experiences.”

“The Coronavirus outbreak has been one of the biggest challenges BUNAC has faced in its 58-year history, however with it comes opportunity to evolve and build a stronger, more customer centric business than before. Whilst travel restrictions are in place, we’ll continue innovating our systems, processes and ensuring BUNAC services respond to the changing needs of the youth traveller in a post-COVID19 world.”

Vicki Cunningham continued; “At BUNAC we pride ourselves on working with the very best partners, agents and suppliers our industry has to offer and I look forward to continuing these working relationships, as well as forging new ones, as we emerge from this crisis.”

“Our commitment to removing barriers for young people and bringing the world closer together for decades to come remains as strong as ever.”
