Travel Safety Panel

Home » Sector Panels » Travel Safety

Insurance companies and organisations operating in risk management, safeguarding, travel safety and child protection are represented by the Travel Safety Sector Panel. Nevertheless, safety concerns all aspects of the youth travel sector: for this reason, the Travel Safety Panel works closely with the Accommodation, Cultural Exchange and Study Abroad Sector Panels to improve sector-specific safety and security policies.

The Travel Safety Panel’s objectives fall within WYSE Travel Confederation’s Four Pillars: Trading, Research, Education and Advocacy.

  • Trading: Provide business opportunities for members to meet with new insurance providers and organisations working within the risk management, safeguarding and child protection sectors via industry events.
  • Research: Help members to improve their safety and security policies by collecting valuable data on both consumer and business trends and producing research reports to guide members towards the right strategic decisions when it comes to safeguarding, risk management, insurance and child protection.
  • Education: Inform and educate members about the latest issues and trends regarding safety and security in youth travel, sharing best practice and policies in child protection and safeguarding.
  • Advocacy: Help members to reach a uniform level on safeguarding, risk management, insurance and child protection policies, providing toolkits and addressing industry issues on behalf of members.

STAY WYSE Amsterdam: Where the hostel industry meets

Date:  26 - 27 January 2023

STAY WYSE Amsterdam brings together businesses involved in the youth travel accommodation sector for two days of trading, education and socialising. Now in its sixth year the Conference has rapidly established itself as the place to meet new trading partners; from buyers, to operators, investors and suppliers.

Date:  27 - 30 September 2022
Location: Lisbon, Portugal

The World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC) is the leading trade event for the global youth, student and educational travel industry. Since its inception in 1992 as the annual event of WYSE Travel Confederation, youth and student travel professionals have been gathering annually to trade, network and take part in seminars and workshops.

Self Certification

WYSE Travel Confederation has introduced a certification for WYSE accommodation providers. The promotion of a safe environment within a communal accommodation facility for young people lies at the core of WYSE’s mission. The certification is directed at ensuring guest safety, as well as the safety of the establishment’s employees.

San Diego Declaration

The San Diego Declaration provides the basis for WYSE Travel Confederation’s work with international organisations, governments, sector stakeholders and other NGOs in furthering the cause of global youth travel. The Declaration is a tool to highlight the economic, social and cultural importance of youth travel to governments worldwide.
