Hopscotch Travel, dedicated to encouraging experiential learning, has announced its International Internship Bursary; an initiative aimed at empowering previously disadvantaged South African youth through global work opportunities.
South Africa’s young population are facing pressing challenges with approximately 3.7 million out of 10.2 million people aged 18-24 not in employment, education, or training. Hopscotch is committed to bridging the opportunity gap for young people and has thus launched a programme to provide previously disadvantaged youth in South Africa with the opportunity to engage in a 12-month professional hospitality internship in the US.
The comprehensive bursary of USD 3,683 per beneficiary includes:
- Job placement
- USA consulate visa fee
- Sponsored work visa
- Return flights
- Travel insurance
- First aid course
- Coaching and training
- Hopscotch placement fee
In 2024, Hopscotch aims to provide international internships for 40 previously disadvantaged hospitality students. By the end of the year, Hopscotch will have facilitated the training of 40 highly employable, exceptionally skilled and passionate hospitality professionals, ready to join the South African workforce, bringing back a wealth of international experience and knowledge.
