WYSE News | January 12, 2024

As of January 2024, Isabelle Gruner will take over the management of Backpackers Villa Sonnenhof, a hostel with 190 beds in the heart of Interlaken, Switzerland.

Isabelle takes over from Marianne and David Bühler, who have run the business since it was founded in 1998.

Isabelle grew up in Emmental and decided to enter the hotel industry after graduating from high school. In 2014, she qualified as Hôtelière-Restauratrice HF at the Hotel Management School in Lucerne. In recent years she has worked as a project and department manager at the Wendelin Foundation, where she was responsible for both catering and housekeeping at various locations. Isabelle started working at the Backpackers Villa in October 2023 and moved to the region with her family. She is very much looking forward to the new challenge and working with the Villa team. As deputy managing director for many years, Catherin Quirin will be supporting her in the joint management work.

Marianne and David Bühler will work at the Backpackers Villa until March 2024 to ensure a smooth transition. From April onwards, they will take a break and will then be open to a new professional challenge in 2025. They are grateful to be able to leave the management of Villa in capabale hands after 26 years.
