Capsule Services to open new hotel in Lucerne in spring 2024
WYSE News | October 25, 2023

In spring 2024, in the middle of the beautiful old town of Lucerne, Capsule Services will open the doors of its newest Capsule Hotel.

In 2018, the first Capsule Hotel in Switzerland opened in Lucerne and after four years of operation and the development of its Swiss Capsules™, the largest Capsule Hotel in Europe opened in 2022, at Zurich airport. The hotel has enjoyed a lot of success, welcoming around 45,000 thousand guests and achieving an occupancy rate of around 75% in its first year.

Now a new chapter is about to start – in Lucerne, just a few meters from the famous lion monument in the heart of the city. With approximately 80 sleeping places and a unique design, the hotel will also offer guests a communal space in which to relax, socialise or have a drink or bite to eat before getting a good night’s rest in their cosy capsule, after a day exploring the city and region of Lucerne.

The “artistic library” design theme will immerse travellers in a world of discovery. While guests enjoy a drink in the “open zone” in the evening, the atmosphere will change noticeably as night falls. The artworks of local painters and graphic artists suddenly come to life. The light and music will give guests a different atmosphere – the library will come to life. The rooms are named after various well-known books, which echo the design of thehotel. Sleeping is first and foremost not a capsule, but a story.

The new hotel in Lucerne is Capsule Service’s fourth location, following Zurich. The company attaches great importance to the unique design of each location. “We want a very special vibe to be experienced at each location,” said Co-founder Peter Schiffhauer. By reducing sleeping to the essential while maximising the guest experience, the Capsule Hotel team wants to revolutionise the hotel world: “we make it possible for everyone to discover the world.”
