Media Release
Tourism Adventure Group (TAG), a global leader in youth travel experiences, has announced the successful completion of the acquisition of the Work & Travel Company. The acquisition is part of TAG’s continuous expansion strategy, broadening its portfolio of travel experiences to cater to the youth market.
Founded in 2002, the Work & Travel Company (WTC) is the leading one-stop-shop service provider to the working holiday visa industry in Australia and New Zealand. Their full range of services includes arrival services like airport pick up, hostel accommodation, full welcome orientation, and assistance with bank account setup, Tax File Number and SIM cards. Moreover, the company also offers the only fully integrated in-house labour hire and job placement agency of its kind in Australia and New Zealand.
“Work & Travel Company’s comprehensive services align perfectly with our commitment to creating extraordinary travel experiences for young travellers,” said TAG CEO, Tom Cooney. “We’re so happy to welcome them to the TAG family. This acquisition enhances our ability to provide an all-inclusive experience to youth travellers, combining TAG’s unique adventure tours and high-quality hostel accommodations with Work & Travel Company’s seamless support services.”
Through the new partnership with TAG, WTC has already commenced broadening its own product offering to include activities weeks offering their customers the best introductory arrival weeks in addition to their market leading work & support services.
The acquisition also marks the departure of Mike Parsons, the outgoing CEO of the Work & Travel Company. Known for his dedication and tireless efforts in driving the company’s success, Parsons has been a significant contributor to the growth of the working holiday visa industry in Australia and New Zealand. TAG expresses its deep appreciation for Parsons’ leadership and commitment to providing high-quality services to young travellers.
“It can’t be understated the amount of work Mike has done to bring WTC through the pandemic in the shape it’s in. Mike and the rest of our TAG team have rapidly grown the business out of Sydney to offer physical locations in Melbourne & Auckland, and support services and employment opportunities across the breadth of Australia and New Zealand. Mike will continue to help us drive the WTC business forward albeit in a different capacity but one of integral importance for the transition of a business with such positive longevity”
The Work & Travel Company also expands its reach to the UK and Europe, offering programs for those planning a gap year or working holiday abroad. This addition further strengthens TAG’s global presence and capacity to serve a broader demographic of young adventurers.
