With the 118th US Congress just getting underway, the new political dynamics in Washington, DC are starting to come more into focus. The US government also just released its most recent regulatory agenda, providing an indication of what’s on the Department of State/ECA’s docket for the coming year. While any number of things can change on this agenda, it is useful to review and consider what to watch for. The Alliance for International Exchange

Mark Overmann serves as Executive Director of the Alliance for International Exchange, a public policy association that acts as the collective advocacy voice of the educational and cultural exchange community in the United States. Mark previously worked at the Alliance as Assistant Director and Deputy Director from 2009-2015.

Mark has also served as a Senior Manager at Accenture Federal Services supporting global health and diplomacy programs; Vice President of External Affairs at InterExchange; Director of College Communications at Georgetown University; and Program Associate for Communications at Global Ties U.S.

Mark has a bachelor’s in English from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s in International Communication from American University’s School of International Service. He is co-author with Sherry Mueller of Working World: Careers in International Education, Exchange, and Development (Georgetown University Press, 2008, 2014).

David
Chapman

Director General

WYSE Travel Confederation

For the past years as Director General of WYSE Travel Confederation, David has led the Amsterdam-based team in representing and advocating the youth, student and educational travel industry. During his tenure as Director General, WYSE Travel Confederation has expanded upon its legacy of producing essential market research and industry events, and supporting top-notch youth travel organisations worldwide.

Prior to becoming Director General, David was an active board member of STAY WYSE and chairman of WYSE Travel Confederation. He brought a wealth of experience in both the youth travel and hospitality sectors, having served for six years as COO and Deputy Director of a London based non-profit social centre with student accommodation.

He also worked at some of the best hotels in Europe including Grosvenor House, The Waldorf and the George V in Paris before becoming General Manager of several of the UK’s top country house hotels.
