About

The 2019 Extraordinary Experience award recognises an organisation that has facilitated, through innovative and inclusive programmes, an extraordinary experience abroad.

Examples might include a young person who, through your programme, has had the opportunity to volunteer or work in the developing world, climb the Himalayas, learn an exotic language or engage in a valuable way with another culture.

This award serves to remind us of the core values of our industry: providing positive, rewarding and memorable experiences that young people can carry into the future.

Judging criteria

The judging panel evaluates submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Original and inspiring story
  • Tangible engagement with the host culture
  • What the individual gained from the experience
  • How the entering organisation facilitated the experience

Eligibility

Open to all organisations working in the youth and student travel industry.

An organisation can submit multiple entries for the award.

Entries must be in English.

Judging process

All entries must be submitted by Friday, 6 September 2019 at 23:59 CEST.

WYSE Travel Confederation will shortlist a maximum of five entries per category, by reviewing the information submitted with the application forms.

A panel of judges, all of whom are industry experts, will assess shortlisted applications and score each entrant based on the established judging criteria. The highest scoring application will be the winner.

Judges are asked to declare any business connection with shortlisted organisations.
