About

Recent WYSE Travel Confederation research has highlighted the unique benefits that international volunteer projects have upon communities around the world – be it an environmental, humanitarian, social or educational impact.

The 2019 Outstanding Volunteer Project award looks to recognise and showcase outstanding volunteer projects/programmes in this growing industry segment. Key characteristics for winners of this award include an emphasis on sustainability, responsibility and best practices.

Judging criteria

The judging panel evaluates submissions based on the following criteria:

 

  • Standards of operation and safety policies
  • Financial and environmental sustainability
  • Promotion of civil society
  • Innovation or best practices
  • Achievements of the project
  • Personal development of volunteers

Eligibility

The Outstanding Volunteer Project Award is open to all organisations (senders/receivers) in the volunteering industry.

An organisation can submit multiple entries for the award.

Entries must be in English.

Judging process

All entries must be submitted by Friday, 6 September 2019 at 23:59 CEST.

WYSE Travel Confederation will shortlist a maximum of five entries per category, by reviewing the information submitted with the application forms.

A panel of judges, all of whom are industry experts, will assess shortlisted applications and score each entrant based on the established judging criteria. The highest scoring application will be the winner.

Judges are asked to declare any business connection with shortlisted organisations.
