Med Trips specialises in providing medical internship placements abroad for medical students, nursing students, and other healthcare trainees. As part of Volunteering Solutions, it brings over 17 years of experience placing students worldwide – ensuring internships are safe, well organised, and enriching.

What sets Med Trips apart from other medical internship providers?

Med Trips stands out by combining affordability with meaningful, hands-on learning in real healthcare environments across South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Unlike many providers, we focus on accessibility without compromising safety or support. Our team has nearly 2 decades of experience running global health programmes via Volunteering Solutions, ensuring students gain structured exposure, cultural immersion, and personal mentorship. We prioritise ethical partnerships, community benefit, and student growth—creating transformative experiences that prepare future healthcare professionals for diverse, real-world challenges.

How do you balance offering affordable placements with maintaining high-quality, safe, and enriching programmes?

We achieve this balance by leveraging long-standing local partnerships, maintaining lean operations, and focusing resources where they matter most: student safety, accommodation, and clinical supervision. Rather than adding unnecessary extras, we streamline logistics and pass on the savings to participants. Local partners and hiring, staff training, and student feedback loops ensure our programmes remain both enriching and secure. This approach allows us to provide affordable yet world-class opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals.

In which countries can students currently do their internships, and how do you choose your partner hospitals and clinics?

Currently, Med Trips offers medical internships in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Ghana, Greece, Morocco, Peru, Vietnam, Cambodia and Tanzania. We carefully select partner hospitals and clinics based on their ability to provide safe, supervised, and diverse clinical learning opportunities. Partnerships are built with institutions that value ethical student involvement, patient confidentiality, and mutual cultural exchange. Our team regularly reviews placements to ensure they meet both local healthcare standards and the educational goals of our participants.

What do you think students gain from working in resource-limited settings compared to more developed systems?

Students gain a deeper appreciation for clinical adaptability, creative problem-solving, and the value of limited resources. Working in these environments exposes them to conditions and cases rarely seen in developed healthcare systems, broadening their medical knowledge. They also develop resilience, cultural humility, and stronger communication skills—qualities essential for compassionate and globally minded healthcare providers. This unique perspective shapes not only their professional approach but also their personal growth as future practitioners.

How do you see Med Trips growing in the next five years?

In the next five years, we envision Med Trips expanding to new destinations while strengthening our academic partnerships with universities worldwide. At the same time, we will continue refining safety, support, and impact measures. Our goal is to become a trusted leader in affordable, ethical, and high-quality medical internships that inspire the next generation of global healthcare professionals.
