Solution Education & Travel supports young people in mobility projects abroad or in welcoming a young foreigner as an au pair. Solution Education & Travel offers a wide range of programmes, including language stays, internships, jobs, au pair and demi-pair programmes, as well as volunteering.

What inspired the creation of Solution Education & Travel back in 2003?

In 2003, I had just returned to France after three years in the United States, where I worked as a sales and marketing manager for a French baby shoe company. I then took on a new role as Export Manager for a French cosmetics brand, focusing on the North and South American markets. With two young boys at home, I urgently needed a reliable childcare solution.

Living in Lille, I contacted an au pair agency in Paris, only to be told—politely but firmly—that no one wanted to come to Lille, as most applicants preferred Paris. I found that response surprisingly dismissive and out of touch. So, I decided to create my own agency. Approaching my 40s, I felt it was time to build something that offered more flexibility in my personal life—and that’s how Solution Education & Travel was born.

How has your mission of promoting intercultural exchange evolved over the years?

While I initially focused on inbound and outbound pair placements, I quickly realised that this was just one of many valuable international opportunities. I began exploring the broader landscape of study-and-work programmes and, most importantly, listened closely to the needs of my students. It became clear that French students were seeking meaningful experiences abroad that combined education and professional development. This insight led me to expand our offerings to better support their ambitions and promote deeper intercultural exchange.

You offer such a diverse range of programmes – how do you help participants choose the right one for them?

I see myself as a coach guiding them through their international journey. It’s essential for me to truly understand each participant—their background, goals, and expectations. While budget is a factor, their motivation is what matters most. I offer honest, transparent advice and work closely with both the students and their parents to ensure the chosen programme aligns with their aspirations. My goal is to help them find the experience that will best support their personal and professional growth.

You’ve mentioned accreditations and partnerships – why are these important for participants and families?

Accreditations and trusted partnerships are a top priority for me. In this industry, you can’t operate effectively as a solo player. It’s essential to collaborate with reliable partners who share our values and uphold the same code of conduct. These relationships not only ensure programme quality and safety but also demonstrate to participants and their families that our agency is recognised for its professionalism and commitment to excellence.

What advice would you give to young people who dream of travelling abroad but feel hesitant to take the leap?

Go for it! But be prepared—get organised and work with a recognised agency. Don’t let money hold you back. If funds are limited, consider working in France for a few months to gain experience and save up. The investment you make in a trusted partner agency will save you time, money, and stress while abroad. Most importantly, it will help you make the most of your unique international experience.
