WYSE News | August 21, 2025

Travel Work is a Spanish organisation that connects university students and recent graduates with international internships, volunteer projects, and language courses abroad. We offer high-quality, tailor-made programmes designed to promote personal and professional development through real-world experience and cultural exchange. Our placements cover a wide range of sectors – including marketing, business, law, healthcare, education, and more – with a strong emphasis on the tourism and hospitality industry.

What inspired the creation of Travel Work?

Travel Work was born from the belief that young people should have the opportunity to gain professional experience in their field of study while immersing themselves in another country. Beyond learning technical skills, international internships help participants face challenges, adapt to new cultures, and develop problem-solving abilities. Most importantly, they allow students to boost their CVs in a faster, more remarkable way, giving them a competitive edge in the job market while fostering both personal and professional growth.

How do you select your partner organisations and destinations?

Choosing the right partner is at the heart of our work. We look for trustworthy, reliable organisations whose values align with ours and who will care for our students as we do. Destinations are selected based on current student demand — often cultural cities where English is widely spoken and relevant industries are active. Most importantly, we only choose locations where we have dependable local partners, ensuring participants receive an enriching and well-supported experience throughout their stay.

What trends are you noticing in global internships and volunteer work for young professionals?

We see growing interest among students for internships that provide both meaningful work experience and financial sustainability. Many look for paid placements that include accommodation and meals — allowing them to cover living costs while developing skills and practising their English, regardless of location. Others are driven purely by professional growth, seeking opportunities that will strengthen their CVs, even if unpaid, as long as they offer valuable exposure and a chance to immerse themselves in a new culture.

If you could summarise the travel work experience in three words, what would they be?

Career-boosting, personal growth, global.
