What inspired the creation of Mad Monkey Hostels, and how does your mission of connecting the world through experience and adventure influence your operations?

With locations across 7 countries, what makes each destination unique in terms of the experiences and adventures you offer? Which of your destinations are most popular with young travellers, and why?
Our locations bring a combination of bucket list adventure activities, culture, history – this diversity in geography brings unique experiences. It’s important to build a supply chain that allows us to take guests on a journey through the region and tell a story along the way through our experience pillars (culture, adventure, impact).
How do you currently promote your hostels to youth travellers, and how can youth travel associations support these efforts?
- Leverage social media to showcase authentic guest experiences and hostel culture.
- Collaborate with influencers and content creators through our Creative Hub programme.
- Partner with travel agencies and OTAs.
- Send targeted email campaigns with playful, relatable messaging.
How do you stay ahead of trends in youth travel and ensure your offerings remain fresh, exciting, and relevant?
We constantly evolve tours and activities based on guest feedback. We emphasise sustainability, local impact, and authentic cultural immersion in each location, and introduce bold, themed events (e.g., Full moon parties, drag music quizzes, Valentine’s Day) as well.
