On 20 November 2024, Ramón Tavárez announced his resignation as President of ICEAA, marking the end of an incredible eight-year journey dedicated to transforming the association into what it is today: a global benchmark for excellence in cultural exchange programmes.
During Tavárez’s tenure, ICEAA achieved significant milestones that have shaped its history and future. Some of these accomplishments include:
- Becoming the first global association of its kind in cultural exchange.
- Influencing consular policies, benefiting thousands of students.
- Earning recognition as the first Dominican association and platinum sponsor at the World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC).
- Supporting participants and leading charitable efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Achieving a record number of member agencies, strengthening ICEAA’s growth.
The most recent and impactful achievement was the change in Work & Travel USA Program dates for the Dominican Republic. This adjustment extended the Program’s dates to 15 May – 7 September 2025, benefiting thousands of participants.
“I step away from my role with immense joy and gratitude, knowing that ICEAA is stronger than ever. While I transition to a new perspective as a mentor, my connection and support for this community remain steadfast,” said Tavárez.
