STAR Travel specialises in youth and student exchange and educational programmes. Besides operating in Cyprus, it trades in several ex-USSR countries like Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

Can you elaborate a little more on who you are and how STAR Travel started?

STAR Travel started in 1996 as a GSA for STA Travel in Russia, the company since has advanced to Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Mongolia, China, Vietnam, and Argentina. STAR Travel has been a member of FYITO and ISTC until they formed WYSE Confederation, expanding its product line to educational and work exchange programmes.

What excites you the most about sending students to participate in Summer Work and Travel Programs abroad?

We think that this is a life-changing programme and are happy to participate in a process that defines the future of thousands of kids.

What sets your business apart from its competitors?

STAR Travel has survived four global crises, and its stamina, stability, and many years of experience give students a chance to work with one of the most reliable companies in the market.

You have been in business for a few years now. How have you had to adapt to changing travel trends to stay relevant in the youth travel industry?

We have always diversified our operations not only in terms of working in several markets but also through working with various products and using diversified financial instruments in different countries.

In your opinion, are there any challenges associated with using AI and technology in Work and Travel Programs?

Despite the fact that a major part of the recruitment went online, most of the processes involved require personal interactions, from English interviews to visa interviews at the US Embassy and work itself at the employer’s locations. So we do not see major challenges except utilising new means of promotion.
