J-1 Visa Exchanges Inc. was established in 2016, but we are far from being new to the world of international exchanges. In 2023, J1X acquired and merged with HTP J-1 Visa Programmes (established in 1997), leveraging almost 30 years of HTP’s experience in bringing professional training opportunities to people around the globe. Today, we are a boutique company that offers a diverse range of occupational categories, ensuring that there is an ideal programme for every individual. At J1X, we believe in empowering participants to embrace new challenges, expand their horizons, and make lifelong connections.

We deeply care about our exchange visitors’ experiences. Our host’s standards are high. We scrutinise every training plan to ensure that it not only provides a proper training opportunity, but also includes a well-thought-through cultural enrichment program. We onboard each of our hosts, emphasising the importance of cultural immersion and exchange. We closely monitor our exchange visitors’ progress via automatic 45-day check ins built into our CRM to ensure that participants are provided with and take advantage of the opportunities to explore American culture.

4. How do you feel the recent development of AI has affected your organisation and the industry you work in?

Technology is integral to our operations. We believe that technological developments, especially in the sphere of AI, are essential for making exchange programmes more cost-efficient, less labour intensive, and therefore more affordable for all involved parties. A simpler, faster, and cheaper application process opens the doors to more diverse and inclusive exchange experiences. At J1X, we have harnessed technology to make the J-1 visa processing journey smoother and faster. As Orion allows us to save on application processing, we have been consistently redirecting resources to the areas that we consider essential to the programme’s success, such as exchange visitor support, cultural activities, or host training.

5. Do you offer any pre-departure training or resources to prepare travellers for cultural differences and social etiquette in their host countries?

Our comprehensive pre-departure orientation course that covers all topics required by the regulation is built into our CRM, Orion. All exchange visitors are required to complete the course before a certificate of eligibility can be issued. In addition, Orion contains an extensive list of cultural resources available to exchange visitors at any time during the programme.
