Barcelona Pere Tarrés Youth Hostel is internationally recognized for its social responsibility initiatives

  • The Global Youth Travel Awards reward the best youth tourism initiatives in the world. This year, Barcelona Pere Tarrés Youth Hostel has been awarded in the category of the Best Social Responsibility Initiative.

The Global Youth Travel Awards ceremony was held on Friday, October 11 in Lisbon, an event that brings together youth tourism organisations and professionals from around the world. This year there was a record number of candidates that received the support of more than 40,000 votes, among which Barcelona Pere Tarrés Youth Hostel stood out as the winner of the best initiative in social responsibility category.

The awards, known as “the Oscars” of youth tourism, recognizes the social and educational project that defines Pere Tarrés Hostel. The Pere Tarrés Foundation, with more than 60 years of history, is the largest educational leisure entity in Catalonia with more than half a million beneficiaries. The award values ​​action to promote equal opportunities for children and young people in vulnerable situations. The Pere Tarrés Foundation promotes the “Help them grow” campaign, which works to reduce social inequality and allow thousands of children in difficult social situations to participate in educational activities in their free time at the Pere Tarrés Foundation.

Barcelona Pere Tarrés Youth Hostel is one of the most modern and comfortable in Barcelona for schoolchildren, universities, families and young individual travelers. The privileged location of the hostel, situated in one of the most central areas of Barcelona, ​​is part of its success. As is the quality endorsed by the environmental protection badge and the ISO 9001: 2015 Certificate. The International Federation of Youth Hostels, Hostelling International, awarded the Pere Tarrés Hostel the Q of quality, thanks to which it became the first and only hostel in Spain to obtain this distinction. In addition, the Hostel’s commitment to the environment has also been recognised by the Catalan government with the award of the environmental badge.
