bitemojo pushes for European expansion after 200,000 bites sold

Sep 19, 2019

Press release
Jerusalem, Israel – 19 September 2019

Followed by the strong momentum of 2018-2019, bitemojo is seeking strategic investors from the youth travel industry to expand its traction in the European youth travel market. With operations in 12 international cities, and more than 30,000 customers annually, bitemojo is on the radar of both VCs and financial investors as part of raising $3M for its European expansion.

bitemojo, an app for self-guided food tours, has experienced explosive growth in the last year, establishing itself as a market leader amongst youth travel operators worldwide. After reaching a record number of customers exploring destinations with its app, bitemojo is seeking to raise $3M through strategic partnerships in order to support rapid expansion across the European market.

Following the company’s outstanding work with the biggest educational youth travel operators in Israel, bitemojo successfully signed strategic agreements with some of the leading youth travel operators in Europe. In recent months the company has been providing groups with a new way to experience cities, based on the technology of the bitemojo app.

Since its launch, bitemojo has already raised $1M from leading investors and VCs in Israel and Europe. It has sold more than 200,000 bites and impacted 500+ local food sellers with more than $0.5M in payments for the food and drinks they provide bitemojo’s customers.

“We have proven to be an asset in the hands of group travel operators, serving more than 30,000 travelers annually,” stated Yael Weiss-Gadish, bitemojo Co-Founder and CEO. “We are looking to raise more this upcoming round in order to improve our product and boost growth in Europe and the US.

“bitemojo helps us solve one of our biggest challenges as youth travel operators – how to provide an immersive, hyper-local experience at one end, and meet a modest budget on the other. The fact that it’s an app-based solution allows us to be very flexible in terms of tailoring the experience to our needs. The overall budget we are receiving from our groups is great,” explained Reuven Pilo, CEO of More-tourism, an Israel-based tour operator.

“It has been exciting to be recognized by UNWTO, booking.com, and World VISA as one of the most innovative in-destination activities among today’s travel experiences,” said Weiss-Gadish, reflecting on a successful year to date. “In 2020 we aim to turn bitemojo into the most popular experience for youth travelers in the world.”
