New international college launches in Bristol, UK

Jul 8, 2019

Press release
Bristol, UK – 8 July 2019

A new college for international students is being launched in the UK this week: Bristol International College (BIC) will accept its first intake of students in September 2020.

The latest member of Bristol Education Group, BIC is a joint venture between Constellation Group and Experio Life. The new college will deliver a range of high-quality qualifications to students aged 14 -18 who are looking to embark on a UK academic career. As well as offering 2-year GCSE and 1-year IGCSE courses in a wide range of popular subjects, the new College will deliver an established International Foundation Programme (IFP), accredited by one of the UK’s top universities, which prepares students to gain access to top UK and international universities.

Co-founder and CEO, John Milne, says the college responds to a need in the South West of England for a dedicated and high-quality international college. “We are really excited to be launching BIC, and we are already taking applications for places in September 2020. As a specialist college for 14- to 18-year olds, we can offer a best-of-British education experience, combined with exceptional wrap around care for our younger students. Places in the first year are limited to 50, which means we can offer an intimate setting with very small classes, and exceptional care outside of the classroom.

Co-founder and Sales & Marketing Director, Tony Evans, has been promoting Bristol as a study destination for the past 20 years. “Bristol is a fantastic city in which to live and study, and we are already experiencing high levels of interest. Bristol is home to two top universities, two football clubs, an international airport, numerous cultural and historical attractions, not to mention hundreds of restaurants, cafes and bars. And with frequent high-speed transport links to London and the rest of the UK, there really is no better place to sample a truly excellent English education.”

Philippa Mills, an experienced head with over 25 years’ experience of education, gained in both day and boarding schools in Britain and overseas, has been appointed as Principal of the College. She said: “I see it as my prime objective to provide all of my students with an exceptional all-round experience, helping them to succeed academically by providing them with all the support and guidance they need. I will also draw on my extensive experience in UK boarding schools to ensure that BIC’s pastoral care is second to none, making sure all of our students’ needs are met – and exceeded – whilst they are away from home.”

Bristol International College has its academic base in Torwood House, on the Downs, and its custom-refurbished accommodation in the heart of the highly desirable Clifton Village. As well as wrap-around and pastoral care for students, BIC will also offer a full social programme with other international and UK students.
