Celtic Group Hostels celebrates 25 Years

May 31, 2019

Ireland’s leading hostel network and group travel organiser, Celtic Group Hostels (CGH), celebrated 25 years in business on 16 May 2019.

Managing Director, Nicola Foley, says, “Our company started back in 1994 when the hostel industry was in its infancy. Students and youth travellers weren’t really a recognised market segment; Ireland was poorly rated as a travel destination with little airline access.”

Fast forward 25 years to today: the hostel market is now huge, and student and youth travellers represent 23% of the over 1 billion tourists travelling internationally. Ireland has become a leading travel destination with award-winning attractions and experiences, and flight access has improved dramatically. CGH now handles over 800 youth and student group bookings into Ireland annually.

Nicola continues “CGH’s success factors are its strong customer service and relationships with industry suppliers, and the leading youth and student group travel organisers. We employ a skilled customer service team to provide a personalised service to our clients, ensuring that we always deliver what we promise. We have exciting things planned for the business to enhance this service – here’s to the next 25 years!”

CGH celebrated this milestone in style on the 16 May hosting a ‘Thank You party’ for over 100 of their leading agent partners and suppliers. The evening featured entertainment by the award-winning Irish House Party musicians and a performance by an Irish dancing flash mob, provided by Celtic Rhythm Professional dancers. Nicola adds, “With CGH being the client this time and the party-organising in our hands, it was always going to be a long-remembered, epic event!”
