Feb 27, 2019

Interview with Sherlyn Xia – Greater China CEO

Tell us your story. How did YSJ Travel Service get started?
YSJ Travel first engaged in international student exchanges and then began to develop our own products, such as sailing summer camps and etiquette summer camps.

What makes YSJ Travel Service different from your competitors?
YSJ Travel only focuses on a few products. We do not pursue a wide range of products in the market and we only recommend fields that we are familiar with.

What is your favourite success story from your organisation?
YSJ Travel has successfully promoted non-profit exchange programs between Dutch secondary schools and Chinese secondary schools.

What can we expect to see from YSJ Travel Service in the future?
We hope to achieve exchanges and cooperation between schools with more countries, including fee-based programs such as summer camps, as well as more non-profit projects such as exchanges between schools.

Which trends do you see in educational and active youth travel?
YSJ Travel believes that cultural exchanges, community exchanges and long-term friendships between young people are effective ways to promote world cultural harmony, this can also help young people break cultural boundaries and become more tolerant. This is also a business opportunity.

How do you work to ensure the health and safety of young travellers involved with YSJ Travel Service?
YSJ Travel will conduct safety training before they travel and choose youth hostels that are more concerned about safety. Moreover, the attention of the school is also a concern of us.

What was your motivation to join WYSE Travel Confederation?
We hope to get more fresh ideas, authoritative market guidance and data support.

Have you attended a WYSE Travel Confederation event? (WYSTC, STAY WYSE, WYSE Exchange Australia, WETM-IAC) If so, what was your experience with the event?
Yes, my colleagues and I have participated in STAY WYSE and WYSTC. We all agree that the conference was very successful. YSJ Travel got a lot of very useful information and met many potential partners.

What is an industry challenge your organisation is facing currently?
At present, de-intermediation is very serious. There is less room for survival in the intermediary. Only by optimizing our products and making our products an indispensable resource for our customers will we be able to survive longer
