Interview with Vinita Nigam – Founder and Managing Director

Tell us your story. How did Maestro Travel Ventures Private Limited get started?

Maestro Travel Ventures was born out of the desire to bring Learning into Travel. Our Founder is a fashion designer by experience and a travel enthusiast, and our Co- founder is a University professor who is heavily involved in creating University based Start-ups. With the heady mix of experience in classroom and work revolving around the creation of Start-ups, it was a natural arrival. The Husband and Wife team launched this Start-up and are working towards taking it to new heights.

What makes Maestro Travel Ventures Private Limited different from your competitors?

Based on the foothills of the Himalayas in the educational town of Dehradun, India, it was natural to concentrate on Himalayan geology as a starting point. Deep links within the academic community ensures that researchers tend to be part of travel as Subject Matter Experts. Experiential learning of this kind brings life inside a classroom. From bringing learning into travel, the company would like to take travel into learning in geography, geology, History and culture.

What is your favourite success story from your organisation?

It was good to have first time visitors from Spain, Italy and India come together for a Western Himalayan Field trip. The visitors enjoyed moving from lower Himalayas to higher Himalayas across multiple cross sections including areas where ocean existed in geological ages gone by, the scale and majesty of Himalayas. Of course, finding fossils and trace minerals added to the excitement

What can we expect to see from Maestro Travel Ventures Private Limited in the future?

With a large and young Indian population, Maestro Travel Ventures plans to support students traveling and planning to study overseas through selection of appropriate courses and colleges. As a full service provider, the company has ties with Indian Banks and Non-Banking Financial companies for financing of educational and travel debt. The Inbound travel program proposes to work with Universities, Colleges and Schools from outside India by creating an Indian experience in areas of History, Culture, Geology and Geography. The company would like to expose Start-ups from across the globe to the large Indian market and help them create the network for their eventual internationalization

Which trends do you see in educational and active youth travel?

We foresee both inbound and outbound travel of youth. A large number of Indians would travel for experience and education overseas while a large number of young people from different countries would like to explore the Indian market from an economic perspective as well as deeper relationship through active networking.

How do you work to ensure the health and safety of young travellers involved with Maestro Travel Ventures Private Limited?

Apart from the Structured Trip Itinerary with strong focus on health and safety, the team selects the place of accommodation by personally visiting before the arrival. This ensures a wholesome experience. Our Co-Founder is a member of faculty and is personally involved in this exercise and would like to see that experiential learning really happens.

What was your motivation to join WYSE Travel Confederation?

We believe that for a wholesome experience working with trusted partners, sharing similar vision is important and WYSE is a platform, which brings partners from across the globe who can be trusted and have strong ethics resulting in development of global leaders of tomorrow.

Have you attended a WYSE Travel Confederation event? (World Youth and Student Travel Conference, STAY WYSE, WYSE Exchange Australia, WETM-IAC) If so, what was your experience with the event?

No, we have not attended any WYSE Travel Confederation events but are looking forward to attend a few.

What is an industry challenge your organisation is facing at this time?

Networking with organisations sharing the same value systems while building leaders of tomorrow.
