HI Canada launches video celebrating magic of Canadian winters

Nov 26, 2018

Press Release

COAST TO COAST, Canada – HI Canada announces a new winter video capturing the magic of Canadian winters. The short film officially launches the winter season at over 50 HI hostels across Canada on November 14.

The promotional video was inspired by a recent survey that found that while Canada is a highly attractive destination for young travellers, many of them would not consider coming during the winter because of the cold. Anyone who has been in Canada over the winter knows the country doesn’t stop for a little snow – in fact, as many would argue, outdoor places come alive. The goal of the video was to show that Canada is a great place to visit, no matter the season.

Back in February, with the help of Brokenwood Production, HI Canada sent a team to 15 of their hostels to meet travellers and ask them what it’s like to spend winter in Canada. They filmed participants enjoying winter activities offered by the hostels, including ice climbing, dog sledding, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and, of course, a good old fashioned snowball fight.

The video was made in partnership with Lake Louise Ski Resort, Mont Grand-Fonds, Parks Canada, Secrets Nordiques, Snowtips-Backtrax, Sunshine Village Ski Resort, and Ziptrek Ecotours Whistler.
