Meet to our newest member: Euroventure Travel Ltd

Mar 27, 2018

Tell us your story.  How did Euroventure Travel Ltd get started?

It began as a pitch for a £4,000 grant from the business incubator at University of Leeds to start a company that organised interrail packages for students. We threw together a website, paid for some marketing and convinced enough people to book with us. Late evenings juggling full-time jobs on the side eventually paved the way for the first office and staff in January 2015.

What makes Euroventure Travel Ltd different?

We’re the innovators in a niche market, being the first to offer complete interrail packages including seat reservations on most European trains. We like to have a personal relationship with all our suppliers and we live up to our claim that we check out all the hostels we use. As an official agent for Deutsche Bahn we can also fulfil orders quicker than most others, being able to issue European rail tickets in house. This efficiency and personal touch combined with excellent customer service makes us unique, as can be seen from our regular 5* reviews.

What is your favourite success story from your agency?

We were contacted by a powerchair user whose dream it was to travel around Europe by train, but who couldn’t find a company that would take the time to look into booking the right tickets and assistance. After a lot of work, and an unscheduled flight to Germany to personally collect a ticket for her she went away and had an amazing time.

What are your future plans?

We are always trying out new things and expanding into new areas, and currently we are testing our first interrail group tours, which are also the first in the market. This is our biggest project at the moment and we hope to see more and more groups travelling year-round with Euroventure. We are also translating the website and assessing new markets to sell into, but in general we want to keep it fun and carry on learning.

Which trends do you see in educational and active youth travel?

I think there is a trend for experience-driven choices when it comes to youth travel, with an audience that has more destinations than ever to pick from. Social media has a very important part to play in delivering content and is a strong influencer, particularly on platforms such as Instagram.

Which challenges do you see in educational and active youth travel?

I think technology is a huge challenge as it evolves so quickly and is expensive to test and develop. Therefore I think keeping up with new forms of delivering content, booking processes, and even the model itself will be a challenge. Youth travel will always be the first to be disrupted by new technology and we need to keep informed about what choices people are making when it comes to researching, booking and experiencing travel.

What support/safety is provided for young people joining your programmes?

A lot of our customers are first-time travellers and we are used to providing a lot of support in terms of information, advice and assistance where necessary. We have just launched an app which will keep travellers’ documents in one handy place and includes hints and tips on each city, as well as maps and the details of each part of the itinerary. We also have our 24hr emergency number for travellers who are on a trip and run into any difficulties.

What was your motivation to join WYSE Travel Confederation?

I saw that it was a fun, vibrant community of key players in the youth travel industry, which is highly relevant to our business. A lot of our suppliers are already members, and it has been possible to keep up to date with market trends and find new opportunities for growth and collaboration.
